Safe, Hopeful, Healthy BR (SHHBR) was created to address violence East Baton Rouge Parish while assisting individuals, youth, and families dealing with grief and trauma caused by these occurrences. SHHBR aims to foster community-based strategies to help prevent violence and increase public safety. To support this mission, SHHBR announces the availability of funding offered through the Safe Hopeful Healthy BR Community Fund.

Grantee Details

SHHBR seeks partnerships with community-based organizations, small entities, organizations, and individual sole proprietor to propose creative services, initiatives, and programming to reduce gun-related violence (prevent, intervene, mediate) and respond to public safety challenges, primarily during summer months, but additionally year-round.  This community funding opportunity is designed to support community-based activities that will make high-risk and at-risk neighborhoods safer.  

This grant operates on a reimbursement basis, with an advance payment of 15% available. Funds must be used for the purpose and goals of the project. All costs must be allocable, reasonable, and necessary. Funds shall not be applied to any other activities not authorized in the approved budget. Awarded grantees should negotiate the costs of providers to ensure that the proposed costs are reasonable, necessary, and competitive.

Grant Project Requirements

- All awarded projects will be listed on Safe, Hopeful, Healthy BR and affiliated websites

- Projects awarded for Summer of Hope must be administered from Friday, May 24, 2024 – Monday, September 2, 2024

- Projects that intend to recruit volunteers will be required to use the city-provided volunteer management tool, GivePulse.

- Projects must designate a point of contact for administration.

- Project leads must submit a monthly report via SHHBR analyst platform that could include photos, invoices, and proof of payment.

- Project teams must recognize the East Baton Rouge Parish, Mayor-President's Office, and Safe Hopeful Healthy BR in their outreach and engagement.

- Project leads and/or administrative partners must attend Technical Assistance and Onboarding webinars offered by the City Parish.

- Applying organizations must have active registry with Sam.gov, Secretary of State, and with the city’s Vendor Self Service

- Contractor and any subcontractor shall carry and maintain at least Commercial General Liability Insurance.
